Vintage Austrian Photography

The photographer Adele Perlmutter was born in 1845 in Zlocar/Galicia, the family came in 1862 to Vienna where the Photo studio was founded by her together with her 2 brothers, Max and Wilhelm. The studio - as well as the later founded studio in Ischl, the summer residency of Kaiser Franz Joseph and Queen Sissy - was named after her: Adèle. She participated in many shows and even was allowed to take a 'snapshot' of the Kaiser. She was one of the best and most famous female studio photographers in the 1860's and 70's and made a lot of photographs of members of the Austrian high aristocracy and international prominence of these times. She married Mr. Heilpern and resigned from the business appr. in 1890.
