The period of Art Deco derives its name from an exhibition in Paris, 'Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes', which took place in 1925.
The design style of the following 15 years was named after that exhibition, since it broke the ground for Art Deco, with its prominence of geometric designs, bold colors, and the use of plastic and glass.
